Author Elizabeth Demas has sold more than $6 million in Avon products;

OVERLAND PARK, KS – In a little over a decade, Elizabeth Demas transformed from unemployed mom to the number one Avon rep in America. She’s now an author on a mission to change lives. “More than anything, I want to empower women to have choices,” Demas said. “My book is designed to give women the tools to start and grow their own direct sales businesses, earn more money, and have the power to make their own fate.”
Demas, who lives in Independence, began her direct sales career after being caught in a wave of layoffs by Sprint in 2003. “I was new in town and didn’t know anyone,” Demas said. “I decided to sell Avon, and I started by knocking on doors. Over time, as any top seller will tell you, you try everything. You try all of the different techniques possible.”
She grew her business quickly. Demas attributes her success to a combination of hard work plus trial and error, “I knocked on thousands of doors, hosted dozens of parties, and recruited hundreds of other sales reps for my team.” Within the first six months, she had sold more than $10,000, won a cruise to Cozumel, and was featured on the cover of Avon’s in-house magazine, Dreams. In 2005, she took the leap to open a licensed Avon store. In true Demas fashion, she built her shop, Avon Mega Store at 11034 Quivira Road in Overland Park, into the number one Avon retail outlet in the U.S.
“After I got to the point where I had sold $5 million of Avon products, I thought, ‘You know, I could write a book on this.’ So, I did,” Demas said. That idea for a book turned into From Knocking on Doors to Making Millions, a how-to guide designed for representatives of direct sales companies like Avon, Tupperware, doTerra, Mary Kay, and more.
In addition to her own experience, Demas’s book includes strategies from other leading sales reps. “I asked for the advice of more than 20 other direct sales experts across the country,” Demas said. “We cover everything — door-to-door, online, basket making, fundraising, and every other way you could think to sell products — all in one book. Because the truth is, there not one best way to sell, there’s the best way for you to sell. Everyone has to find what works for them.”
Demas will appear at a book signing event at the Avon Mega Store in Overland Park on Saturday, January 27th from 1:00 – 4:00 PM. “I will obviously have copies of my book for sale,” Demas said, “but this is also a chance for direct sales reps to visit with me about their challenges.
