Why would someone sell the #1 Avon store in the nation?
Since announcing that my store is for sale, I’ve been asked many times why I would do such a thing!?!
The store has been a blessing in my life. As the number one producing Avon store in America, it has given me flexibility in my personal life, free trips around the world, and a six-figure income. Since I opened the store twelve years ago, I’ve also dealt with all kinds of life events including a broken foot, giving birth to my third son and adopting a baby girl with special needs.
Any of these events might make a regular job more difficult, but I had the flexibility to run my business and also tend to my personal life. Both of my youngest children stayed at the store with me as infants. Even when my baby girl contracted a lung virus, I was able to stay at the hospital with her around the clock for nearly three months. I joked at the time that “If I didn’t own my own business, I would have been fired by now!” Life flexibility can be a wonderful advantage of being an entrepreneur.
Another great benefit of being an Avon entrepreneur is that I get free trips for two to wonderful destinations every year! I’ve earned trips to the Dominican Republic, Hawaii, Cancun, Cozumel, the Mediterranean, Key West, the Bahamas, and Puerto Rico. I’ve also been to New York, San Diego, Nashville, Hollywood and Las Vegas. Most trips were a given for my sales, and some were extras for special contests. It’s not unheard of for me to earn two trips in a year!
While the business started out at the ground floor, I built my income into a six-figure living over time. I am one of the few Avon representatives in the nation to earn six figures from sales alone. On top of that there are bonuses for those interested in team-building. As for online sales, just this year Avon announced they will max out earnings for online sales to match what we earn for in-person sales! Owning a store — and collecting email addresses — just became even more lucrative! For goodness sake, every year I also receive around $14,000 in bonuses from Avon just for achieving the basic sales levels of my store! There are many ways to make money with just one business!
Of course, I didn’t build to $5,780,000 in total store sales (as of May 2017) “automagically.” Many people assume the store was a hit from the first day. Truth be told? In its first month, the store’s sales were less than the rent payment! But I was a quick learner, and within six months the store was profitable.
Over the years, through trial and error and learning, I have developed this store into a smooth-running money-making machine. An owner can leave for a week of vacation and everything operates smoothly while they’re gone.
The store has processes in place for efficiency with employees, operations, inventory management, and sales systems. The staff is trained on excellent customer service, sales and more. Business Consultant Sally Smith said that in all her decades of working with small businesses, the Avon Mega Store is the closest thing to a franchise in its operations that she’s ever seen in a business this size. The area Small Business Development Center agrees – granting my store the 2008 Existing Business of the Year Award.
So, with all this life flexibility, income and personal success, why would I consider selling the #1 store in the nation?
Well, life has its seasons. There is a time to grow, a time to harvest, and a time to sow new crops. This store is the product of a bountiful spring and summer of my life, but I have had many changes in my personal situation. My husband and I divorced last year and that means that we need to divide the harvest and sell the store.
I don’t look at this with sadness because I am planning new ventures for the next spring and summer of my life. Having reached to top of this mountain, I am inspired by the breathtaking view of the next mountain I intend to climb.
Now is my chance to hand over the #1 store in the nation to another woman with entrepreneurial hopes and dreams. Instead of having to build something from scratch and figure out the workings of running an Avon store, she will inherit an established customer base, well documented systems and processes, and a fertile field to grow her dreams.
Twelve years of loyal customers will attest to the need for an Avon store in the area. New people find us every day. Even more exciting, Avon is about to launch new innovations, new lines and are sweetening their earning opportunities for even more potential rewards than what I’ve experienced.
If you are interested in this excellent opportunity, please contact my broker Kelli Hein at ABMI at 913-341-6300. I’m so grateful to all my customers over the years. My greatest hope is to find a buyer who will serve you well for many years to come.
